The Future of Mentoring

Bay Area Drupal Camp 2015

Together with Cathy Theys ( YesCT) I gave a modified version of our Future of Mentoring talk given at DrupalCon Barcelona.

Drupal Core Mentoring has become immensely popular since the idea of online office hours first came about in July 2011.

Soon after, mentoring at Drupal events came on the scene at DrupalCon Denver, then Munich in 2012. To ease new contributors into the Drupal contribution workflow, every DrupalCon since then has included Core Mentored Sprints and First Time Sprinter Workshops.

In this session we will review the history of Drupal Core Mentoring, and how it has changed over time. We will present a few points which represent a vision for the future of mentoring, and lessons learned from the past 4 years.

If you are thinking of starting a mentoring program in your organization, or already have a mentoring structure in place, this session is for you! Find out what makes a successful mentoring experience, based on our work with Drupal Core Mentoring.
